The point in this workbook is to help with the process to note down everything.
This is a video of our performance to Hartsfield's school on Wednesday 18th March:
We performed it to years 3&4, this was around the age range we was thinking as well as we thought the disgusting facts and comedy would appeal to them as they may react more and they would learn things.
The audience was great, they laughed mainly when we wanted them to laugh and sometimes in places we didn't expect them too. When we have performed it to the second years in the past, they found different things funny compared to the children due to age differences. It did give us a boost of energy to keep going. We had a technical problem at the end when we do a reprise of the song which you can see in the video. I couldn't get the music to change and I panicked but luckily the others helped and it got covered up quickly as Jov asked the audience who he was and a boy started singing 'you're king Henry' and that got everyone singing! The children asked us questions before such as how long we've been working on it and how long we have been acting. We didn't get the chance to ask the children if they enjoyed it or even understood it which is a vital thing to do but it just didn't happen.
I think that my group in reality needed more time as by the show it was still a bit messy and not so slick especially with transitions. But when you are doing it, sometimes you do not notice that the transitions are messy so that's why it's vital to record yourselves and watch it back. If we was to do this again I would say we would need to think of a resolution if music goes wrong again to cover it up, also we would need to work on transitions a lot more, make the story clearer, and make so much more time for rehearsal. I think we spent way to long talking about it rather than actually doing it but all in all I'm glad my group got at least one chance to show an audience of children what we learnt and created.
I really struggled with children's theatre but I'm glad I got the experience. I think I struggled because I'm not great at devising and I haven't really done work specifically to children before which was a new experience.
