We thought of eventually just doing a piece about Henry the 8th, and bout his six wives. We made a decision to have a time machine and go back in time, we thought about Eden playing all six wives to make some humour out of it. We started with a scene of three school children (me, Eden, and Kurt) and we had been given a project to do on Henry the 8th and his six wives. We had KJ be a school cleaner and hear that we was having trouble making the project and she would take us to the time machine and teach us and she would actually turn into Henry the 8th.
We performed the piece and Ella liked it but said to include more than just the six wives such as Tudor laws or other facts about Tudor time otherwise it would get very boring for the children.
I posted on our group Facebook page some facts that could help us piece together a new idea to put into our piece:
On Wednesday 25th February, we wrote down some ideas to help expand on the small piece we created in the first place:
We made a few more scenes such as when Kurt and Kj are together and Kurt discovers the time machine, also focused on scenes when we could give the facts and we started off by showing when Henry was born. After showing this Ella said she didn't see much different from when we last showed her, this is due to the fact that by me doing commedia and Kj we didn't meet up as a group in the half term, Eden also had another show going on. Ella sensed it straight away and wanted to talk to us about our piece, she said were capable of making a good piece and we got it all but we just cannot make it.
So afterwards we got together and spoke about the times we are available for extra rehearsals so that we could get more time in. Then we decided to go home and get some facts on Tudor's. I chose sanitation and I got these facts:
- bathrooms were very rare in Tudor houses
- Tudors took a full bath about twice a year (rich Tudors bathed more)
- they believed that by being naked and touching water in the bath would make you severely ill
- chewing herbs to freshen breath
- changed undergarments several times a day due to sweating
These facts shocked me because I didn't realise how disgusting Tudors could be. We also then wrote down some notes on what to do with our piece after speaking to Ella:
Ella told us to really focus on our opening scene and get it finished. So the next day we made a scene at the beginning before the scene we had first to introduce the characters and make the following scene make more sense.
We made the scene and Kurt had to leave early due to working. He left at half one which meant we would have to show it to Ella without Kurt which made it really difficult but we managed anyways. Ella noticed he was gone and knew he was leaving early that day but not as early as he left. She spoke to us and told to have a real serious think about what we should do and start moving forward and making ideas and if anyone is missing then they can fit themselves in or not go in that particular scene. My group has really decided to knuckle down and focus even more to get this done because we all want a grade and we all want to perform and that will only happen if we move forwards.
